Abstract
Single 60-min treatment sessions with Thought Field Therapy (TFT) were conducted with 48 persons with public speaking anxiety. Participants were randomly assigned to treatment or delayed-treatment conditions and to one of 11 licensed psychotherapists trained in TFT.
Participants in both treatment groups showed decreases in public speaking anxiety and increases in positive measures related to anticipation of future public speaking experiences.
The effect size (ES) reduction in anxiety for the treatment group was 1.52. Participants in the delayed-treatment group showed no improvement while on the wait list. After treatment, the ES reduction in anxiety for this group was 1.66. The univariate results were all significant at p < .0005.
